ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation

Required. OAC 442:10-8-2(a): a lab must be accredited by an ILAC-signatory body, in chemistry and biology or in cannabis, before it applies for a license. OMMA's license page asks for ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation (ANAB, A2LA, PJLA, IAS or COLA).

Notes

• Rules: OAC 442:10 Subchapter 8 (Laboratory Testing). The current text is OMMA's emergency rules effective 28 August 2026. Statute: 63 O.S. 420 et seq.
• Microbials: total yeast and mold under 10,000 CFU/g; STEC, Salmonella and Aspergillus flavus, fumigatus, niger and terreus under 1 CFU/g. Inhaler, nasal, vaginal and rectal products have their own panels.
• Mycotoxins (total aflatoxins and ochratoxin A, each under 20 ppb) and residual solvents apply to production batches: concentrates, infused products and infused pre-rolls.
• Heavy metals: arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury, with limits by product form (inhaled: 0.2, 0.2, 0.5 and 0.1 ppm).
• Flower: water activity 0.65 aw or less and moisture 15% or less.
• Terpenoid type and concentration is a required test, by GC-MS or GC-FID.
• Labs may report only results within their accreditation scope. When analyte rules change, labs get 90 days to update methods or accreditation.
• OMMA's Quality Assurance Laboratory runs proficiency, round-robin and complaint testing. It was ISO/IEC 17025-accredited in October 2025 and fully operational by June 2026.
• HB 3143 (2026) extends the moratorium on new dispensary, processor and commercial grower licenses to 1 August 2028.
• Lab license application fee: $20,000, nonrefundable.
