Indiana cannabis testing requirements

ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation

Not required. There is no cannabis testing program. Separately, labs issuing certificates of analysis for low-THC hemp extract must be accredited to ISO 17025 by a third-party body such as A2LA (IC 24-4-21-1).

Notes

• Possessing marijuana, hash oil or hashish is a Class B misdemeanor, and more serious with prior convictions (IC 35-48-4-11).
• Low-THC hemp extract: derived from hemp, at most 0.3% total delta-9 THC including precursors, and no other controlled substances. Hemp flower and smokable hemp are excluded (IC 35-48-1.1-27).
• Distribution requires a batch certificate of analysis from an independent lab with no ties to hemp or marijuana businesses. The certificate must show total delta-9 THC at or below 0.3% and the CBD percentage (IC 24-4-21-1, -3).
• Packages need a QR or bar code linking to batch information and the certificate, plus the batch number, expiration date, milligrams of extract and a 0.3% THC statement (IC 24-4-21-4). Violations are infractions (IC 24-4-21-5, IC 24-4-22-4).
• The Office of Indiana State Chemist licenses hemp growers and handlers but does not regulate finished hemp products sold at retail.
